1. There are a variety of ways you can choose to attach a patio cover to your home so the installation is pretty straight forward. You can choose fascia, under soffit or a roof mounted model, all of which have a hidden gutter to redirect water into your existing eaves trough system so that you don't have roof run off to worry about. (If you choose to attach to the roof fascia, taking off your existing gutters and using flashing to make the connection between the two structures works great.)
2. You can custom design your patio to maximize exposure or privacy. Depending on the type of glass you choose you, you can obscure the view for privacy or add UV ray protection. You can have stationary or retractable covers, or even add skylights to an aluminum cover to create the outdoor environment that works for you.
3. Unlike a patio cover kit, the size of your patio is not an issue, as you can customize that too. There are some recommendations for the number of posts you need for the span of the space to ensure building requirements are met, but you can cover as much of an area as you want to.
